What part of state are you curious about? Northern WV (Wheeling, Weirton, Morgantown) are in close proximity to Pittsburgh and would be similar to that. Parts of eastern WV are becoming bedroom suburbs of DC, while southern WV definitely has a rural southern feel to it.

I love West Virginia. I love most of West Virginia. I love the eastern panhandle and just about everywhere in the beautiful state. People are very friendly. The weather is very mixed. Winters can get rough. Is there a certain area you are wanting?

West Virginia is one beautiful state. I've only been to Huntington, but it was fabulous.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Huntington. Make sure you come back and visit!
To the OP, if you are looking for convenience and lots to do then consider the Huntington area. Lots of theater, art, concerts, festivals etc. along with some great outdoor activities provided by some closeby state parks and the Ohio River. If you are looking for something a little more out in the country, there are some areas not too far out of town that would put you in this setting. Let me know if you want any more info.

New Martinsville is a wonderful little town on the river. Lot's of grand old houses and very nice folks.
Not a lot in the way of career type jobs, but hey- it's a small town. I go through that area at least 3 times a year and always enjoy it.
