Default Asian children in Mineral County

My husband and I are white with four adopted asian children. He has just accepted a job in the area and we are considering settling in the Fort Ashby area.......Frankfort HS. Are children are 15,11,6 and 5. We are moving in from rural Michigan and desire to remain in a rural area, which is why we are considering Mineral county. We are very concerned with our children fitting in well and not being ostrasized because of their race! Would love to hear of others opinions or experiences with this! Thanks!!! Perhaps a better option for us would be Sommerset County PA?? Any opinions?

I lived in that area for a number of years and went to school in Hampshire County right next door to Mineral. I don't remember really seeing any asians in the area especially in the Fort Ashby or Short Gap areas. Not that they wouldn't be accepted but you might want to try Cumberland,MD. It's a little larger area but even so didn't really have a lot of minorities.
Most of the area is rural except for the larger towns of Cumberland,La Vale and Frostburg in Maryland and Keyser and Romney in WV. Places like Ft Ashby have a couple of small stores but that's it.

I know this thread is old-- thought I'd drop a line and let the OP know (it they are still on CD) that there are quite a few asians in Mineral. In Keyser there is a teacher who adopted 2 little girls from China, and then later on her sister also did the same. Neither could have their own kids, so they adopted.

We know several asian families. Very tolerant neighborhood there.
