That's funny.... I haven't had a problem anywhere else.
And when I openly hear the natives talking of their dislike of Ohioians... well, I tend to believe it.

Well all the events and meetings I go to in Wheeling and the surrounding Ohio river areas (including Ohio and PA), I have never once detected any animosity other than your run of the mill sports rivalry BS.
Sorry you have felt slighted.
(Oh and I HATE the Ohio State Buckeyes, lol. )

I don't feel slighted... just more educated/informed.
Just for the record... I'm talking about Wayne County. And after reflection, I have painted with a broad brush. I apologize for that.

If y'all are coming from a big city, and ya stop beside the road for a moment, don't be surprised if more than one motorist stops to see if y'all need help.
An' if ya git stuck behind a slow movin' car, we'll know ya ain't from around here if ya honk or pass it on a double yeller. West by God Virginians jest wait fer another lane to appear.

First paragraph is true.
2nd paragraph couldn't be further from the truth in Wayne County, WV (where I am). If I'm not doing 60+ mph--even in the curves--I get tailgated and passed regardless of the "double yeller".
I'm not making this stuff up.

I'm afraid you have misunderstood. I have become more knowledgeble AFTER living here... not that I am more educated in the academic sense.

I tend to think it's the other way around. Some of the my older relatives from northern WV and southwest PA migrated to northern Ohio and they had a hard time there. People made fun of their accents and called him hillbillies despite the fact they didn't even have strong Appalachian accents like the southern West Virginians do.
Just mentioning the state of West Virginia will get a chuckle in Ohio, except maybe those counties close to the border.
But of course I am generalizing. Besides so much migration goes back and forth between OH and WV.

What! Jeff are you saying you are assimilating? How are we going to become diverse and politically correct if you foreigners assimilate with the existing cultures...We've had that before with the indians..
The Seneca and Iroquios would war on the Cherrokee and the Mingo's...then the white man came and took all the land...then other whites came and took all the coal, oil, and timber...now they even want the wind from our hills..
I hope you can stay the same...just a little...because when nothing is left here, you will neeed to move to other parts, and you won't be able too, because you are from here...get, my drift?
West Virginia will be a BIG Farmington...a ghost town with signs of some past day prosperity...and a stop light that makes a person slow down to see it...ha ha Don't believe me? go there and see.
Ohio? hated because all of the misfit cousins went there to work in the auto factories...1950, 1970 and now they are gone.
It's just jealousy...really.

Neither the original poster nor I were discussing Wayne county.
