Anyone have anything to say about living in the Sunset Beach area? Is that considered Cheat Lake? Thank you!

Yeah...I've never heard anybody ever say "I live in Sunset Beach." It's all pretty much referred to as Cheat Lake to the East of the lake and the North of I-68.

WVUPharm2007 I have seen many of your posts and thank you for all the input on this area! I have learned SO much from this forum. I am possibly going to work at USP Hazelton in 4 months and making a decent salary (between $60-70k). My wife will come with me and we would like to have our first baby soon. I am not sure if she is going to try to work at all, so I may have to pull all the weight financially, at least at first, until we find good day care (I have not seen daycare addressed in the forum, despite the questions posed by multiple other young families). If my wife goes back to work we should be making over $100k. So realistically, we would probably rent a condo/apt for the first year, and then maybe buy a house the second year.
I do marital arts and I would prefer to live near the Mountaineer Mall since two good schools are in that area. Plus it is right off the I-68. I believe that is South Hills or First Ward, and that there are a lot of students in the area? How is it along the Greenbag road area?
Anyway, my first choices to live are just off the I-68, within 15-20 minutes of downtown, and preferably not too far south just because of the distance. I read great things about Thistledown but that may be a bit too far for me. I wouldn't mind living in Suncrest based on the amenities, and that it is close to hospitals, but it sounds like the commute from the I-68 though downtown could be bad. Bruceton Mills sounded cool at first, but then I read the weather is worse there.
That's all for now. Thanks a bunch!

I have no children and don't really plan to have any. There are a few daycares, I hear them advertised on the radio all the time. I couldn't give you any specifics though.

I actually kinda like that area. Most younger folks don't like it...mostly older people...very few students.

It's not that bad if you don't go that way. What you'd do is go out Baker's Ridge or West Run Road to route 119 direct to I-68, avoiding downtown. Heck, you can probably just take 705 to the mileground and still get out in good time. Because you are headed the opposite direction of the people coming into town in the morning, you can be on the interstate in 10-15 minutes, easy.
Though if I were you, I'd look into the Tyrone/Cheat Lake area. I think your first instincts are right on this one. Right off the interstate, very, very nice neighborhoods, newer homes, lots of new construction, will be near the new Mon-Fayette when it opens up this Winter. Definitely the place to be for a commuter to Preston County, IMO.

And if you haven't, I recommend reading this thread. Probably the best info thread we've had for Morgantown on this forum.
