Wink Ripley, WV

My husband and I are looking for a house or an apartment to rent in Ripley, WV. His job is located in Parkersburg, and I'm going to be attending University of Charleston this August, so Ripley seemed ideal because of being right in the middle. I've found a couple apartment complexes but haven't been able to find any pictures, details, ratings, or any information at all. I've had an even harder time finding any homes to rent.

Also, I was wondering if I could get any information about the town? What kind of stores are located there, things to do, etc.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Ripley is a good choice, it's a nice bedroom community off I-77 located between P'burg and Charleston as you mentioned. If you and your husband are looking for new apartments check in downtown Ripley, there is a new complex that was built two years ago right across from the new City of Ripley offices on South Church St.

Other nice options in town are the apt's and town houses called Viking Village near the high school softball field in front of the high school. I know some teachers live there or have lived there in the past.

There are a lot of gas stations and fast food restarants as you will find out with the interstate bisecting the county.

Court St in Ripley has a few nice shops and restaraunts that give the downtown some vibe.

Ripley is known for it's 4th of July Celebration and parade. On July 4th 2002 President G.W. Bush visited and gave a speach on national tv in front of the Courthouse. And in the 60's the Today Show featured Ripley for it's traditional 4th parade.

Cedar Lakes 2 miles outside of town is a nice state owned park that is a hidden jewel and a nice place to relax, jog, fish or enjoy some outdoor sports.

In West Ripley, there is a new Wal-Mart, it is the largest one in the state with 3 main entrances. WVU has a branch in West Ripley and offeres full bachelor degree programs there.

A brand new apartment complex was just opened about a mile west of Ripley on Rt 62 (old Rt33). You might also consider Ravenswood which has easy access to I77 as well. Ravenswood is located 10 miles north of Ripley just off I77. A weekly publication called Traders Guide is available in most mini-marts locally and contains a lot of listings in the area both for sale and for rent.

My aunt and uncle Luther and Jan Jones live in Ripley. I think they have houses to rent. I don't have a number, but it should be listed.
