Does anyone know what the law is for exhausts in Charleston, Wv, or how I can find out?
Thanks.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Do you mean an emissions test for your car. We don't have that. Do you mean loud mufflers? Supposedly there is a law but it doesn't seem enforced.

That is GREAT news! Whooo Hooo!
Thank you!
What about Catalytic Converters? Do they sniff at the inspection stations or is it all visual?

If your vehicle came with a CAT, it has to have a CAT when the car is inspected annually.
No tailpipe sniffing, yet.

A vehicle inspection here consists of raising your car on a rack and pulling 1 front and 1 rear brake to check the brake pads. No cracked windows, all lights work, wipers and no rust places. They look to see if you have an exhaust and a catalytic converter. That does'nt mean it has to work or that there is anything in it, there just has to be one there. I think an inspection is 12 bucks. Also you need your insurance card and registration. If the car has under 10,000 miles like a newer car they will just slap a sticker on it.

And a gutted cat would qualify on a ca. 1980 on down vehicle even if tailpipe sniff tests were performed since most older cars/trucks ran quite clean if in good mechanical condition
