Question Possible move from Michigan

Hello all,
I am looking at moving to Rainelle, WV within the next couple of years. I live in Michigan right now. My moms family if from Rainelle and latley I've just been feeling drawn to it. I will be planning a trip there hopefully in the next 6 months or so. Despite the fact that my great grandmother lived there all her life I've never been there. She always came to visit us in Michigan. If anyone can give me some insite on the area I would apreciate it. I will need to know about the job market as well as housing. I want to thank you in advance for helping me out.
Thanks,
Dawn

Hmm, the only thing I know about Rainelle is that it's about 2 hours from me (I'm in Huntington, WV) and it's on the other side of Charleston, near Beckley? The good thing, from what I gather, is that it's only about an 1 1/2 hrs. from Charleston, so you wouldn't be far from the Capitol or such cultural things like Mountain Stage, etc...

Just popped in b/c my husband's family relocated from Michigan to Fairmont, WV about a decade ago and was seeing where in Michigan you are from?

Def. visit first, it can be a bit of a culture shock. Things are different here than in the "great white north" as my husband likes to call it.

Hope that if you do plan on relocating here, you take advantage of all our beautiful state has to offer! Welcome to WV!

Thanks for responding! I live in Whitmore Lake, MI right now. It's a small town just north of Ann Arbor and South of Lansing our state capital. I've always loved the small towns better than the cities. Lived in the city for several years and just didn't like it or fit it there. The culture shock thing is possible I'm sure. Although, I do believe I may be a lot more pleased with the differences than shocked by it.....lol. I thank you for the insight. It's much apreciated, Dawn

Do a search of Rainelle in the WV forum. A month or so ago someone else was asking about the area and there was a poster who had some info.

I too know little to nothing about it. Have been through it once or twice. My memory/impression is that it is rural and somewhat depressed area.

There really isn't a job market in Rainelle. Most store are gone. You should visit. It's definitely quiet.
