Elkins and Food (Morgantown, Buckhannon, Summersville: wedding reception, restaurants, places to eat)

Elkins area Restaurants

I need some help with good non-chain places to eat for some folks driving from Elkins to Summersville, via US-219/WV-55.

Breakfast in Elkins

Lunch in Summersville, I can handle this one.

For breakfast in Elkins... try Scotties Diner, Mama's Kitchen, Kissel Stop Cafe, etc.

That is really all I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure if you walk or drive around downtown you can find something nice. CJ Maggies is nice, but it is a chain technically. There are others in Morgantown, Buckhannon, and Ashland, KY.

Graceland is a wonderful place to eat, but I don't know if they do breakfast.

Scotties is right along Randolph Avenue, right down from the entrance to D&E.
Mama's Kitchen is along the Beverly 5 Lane I belief???
Kissel Stop is right down from the railroad depot.
C.J. Maggies is along Davis Avenue in downtown.
Graceland is on the campus of D&E...

If I think of any others I'll post them.

I second the CJ Maggie's suggestion - food is yummy!!!!! Love the portabello mushroom sandwich.
(Do they do breakfast?)

There is one in Elkins and 1 in Buckhannon.
(Since there are about 4-5 of them, guess in a way they could be called a chain but NOTHING like the national chains).

Haven't eaten at Stonewall Resort for a while but the food was very good. Almost positive they do breakfast but too far from Elkins?

dinner in gassaway :-)

red rooster cafe is located on main street in gassaway...get off exit 62, turn right towards gassaway, go into town and it will be on your left by the 2nd stoplight...they have steaks, pasta, salads, chicken, crab cakes....very good with wonderful ambiance....decorated in a french country theme, wonderful people and staff.

another couple of options are la dolce vita in sutton, or cimino country inn in sutton...

i'm sorry i don't have a website for la dolce vita, they only recently started serving dinner....their lunches are very good - gourmet sandwiches, soups and salads....it is in a beautiful building (cafe cimino's old location) i actually had my wedding reception there.

all three choices will give you a wonderful dining experience and are all family friendly, however for cafe cimino you will want reservations.
