I can't believe all the bashing going on.
I've seen hunger in WV, real hunger. I've seen it in our congregation at church, at the food pantry's.. Kids, elderly, you name it. And these are in areas most West Virginians would consider 'well-off'.
I'll bet most of the people bashing have not once personally been involved with service work for the hungry or needy. If you have, I'm quite certain your responses would have been tempered.
Go see for yourself and volunteer at some of these places. Womens shelters that house women and kids that had to leave because of veryabusive situations. Mom has no job, no food for her kids let alone herself.
Shame the Hell on you folks. Don't post dribble in an otherwise worthwhile thread.

The truth may be harsh, but it isn't bashing. As was stated, if someone is hungry in WV, it isn't for lack of food, it's for lack of planning and/or priorities.
HL- Next time (if ever) someone is suspected of posing as a Marine, just ask them who Smedley Butler is. If they don't know, they aren't (weren't) a Marine.
DK- Love it. Beggin' for more ammo... classic. At 50 cents per .223, I may resort to begging as well.

Yeah- women and kids in the shelters are at fault. All a lack of planning
I'm sure glad the folks I know DON'T think this way.

Who's fault is it Three? Society? Economy? Someone elses? The largest problem this country has is lack of personal responsibility. It's so easy to place the blame on some one else. Blame someone/something else for you failures- it's the new American way.
yes Three, those people are to blame for their situation. They made the personal choice to marry (or shack up/ reproduce with) a loser, they made the decision to have little or no education, they made the decision to spend themselves into an unrecoverable situation, they made the decision to get a mortgage too big for their income. Paint whatever face you want on it, the fact is that people are responsible for their own success or failures.
I grew up hungry. There were many night we didn't eat, and times there was no heat or hot water in the house. It wasn't anyones fault but my parents. Plain and simple. I guess the truth isn't in vogue these days.

Cody, school is out...pack your bags and head for Yellowstone...
You've been to poor Europe and seen the effects of the Russian gangsters...now, get that jeep pointed west and see how big and great this county is...make a circle... St, Louis and the Arch...Dakotas and Mt. Rushmore..Jackson Hole...
Go to Seattle and see a real China Town and ride the ferrys to the Islands, see the whales in the Straits.
Go down the coast to Frisco...Sausalito and the wine country...forget LA...head to Vegas and Salt Lake City...then to Denver and Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak...Texas will be to hot so set the cruise for home...
I'm serious...tell Grandpa..you need a loan and you will only have this window of opportunity this one summer. Go!
These sights and memories will be priceless in the future when time really gets crammed. It's geographical!

I try to buy WV products whenever I can. Armstrong/Bruce flooring, Fiestaware, Fenton, stuff from Tamarack...
|
Ahh, I didn't know Fiestaware was made in WV. My aunt works at Mariott and it's what they use to set the tables! It's wonderful. I also got a set after I got married in 95. Glad I never used it to conk my ex-husband on the head. He definitely would not have survived it.
