Default Greenbrier Motel & Restaurant in Clarksburg?

Has anyone stayed their? Opinions? I may need a place to stay in Clarksburg for two weeks this summer while my children attend a day camp there. Any other ideas for staying in the area for two weeks? Just during the week and coming home on weekends. Camping is also an option but I can't find anyplace that's closer than driving back and forth from home everyday, which I really don't want to do!

Sorry I can't be more helpful because I haven't stayed there but I can tell you one to avoid if it's unchanged... some hotel with the name 'white' in it with a river running past it in clarksburg. It was late, I was tired, and made the devils bargain with myself the next motel I find I'm stopping. Folks were very hospitable but their hvac units were in dire need of servicing, humidity permeated the rugs with a musty odor, and frankly I was glad to get back on the road because it was killing my sinuses. I'm not allergy sensitive so I can only imagine how anyone else would feel about it.

When I was at the greenbrier proper I noticed they had charming cabin & townhouse type rentals on the grounds but I imagine the price of that stay wouldn't be economical. Unless it's a vacation for you & hubby and money isn't a problem, camping is your econo option. I've never had a problem with a Days Inn but Super8's are dicey at best so I avoid them- both are in clarksburg unbeknownst to me at the time.

I wasn't camping that time of year so I'm empty handed on that one too. I think GHO might know since his stomping grounds of Elkins is nearby. Might want to try asking your kids camp where parents are staying too- usually get productive leads that way. Good luck.

Here's the one review of the Greenbrier Motel, from tripadvisor via Google Maps: "off the beaten path but well worth it.‎ - A TripAdvisor Member‎ - May 7, 2008
... I felt safe, it was quiet and only a 1 and 1/2 mile to va hospital. It is also pet friendly. the people were so kind and giving it is well worth it. ...

If you have a camper (not tents), my understanding is you can park overnight in any WalMart lot. I've never done it myself, and I don't know how they'd take to 2 weeks solid... but then I guess you could move from one WM to another from one day to the next.

Thanks for the feedback! I do have a camper but it's an old airstream and it doesn't have a title to it. I don't think I'm brave enough to camp out in a wal mart parking lot! I'm afraid to be there in the daytime! lol
