Default Living in WV and working in DC

I'm thinking about moving to WV (Berkeley/Martinsburg area) and commuting to work in DC. I understand I can get on the Marc Train. Does anyone else does this and is it a hassle? I've also heard a couple of bad stories about living in WV. My family is AA and I have 2 young children (1 elementary and 1 middle school age) and am a little worried about the area. Can someone shed a little light on the area? Thanks

There is a marc train station in lovettesville, va. Wonderful loudon county schools and you can probably get a good rent deal as homes in that area have been on the market for months and months with no offers.
