Good Home-Cooking Restaurants in Princeton
Going to a family reunion in Princeton around Labor Day and I was wondering if there were any good cafes in and around Princeton that featured home-cooking. Most of my relatives there are gone or too old for me to ask them to cook for me. I know there are chain restaurants there, I've been to them. I'd like to find something serving WVa cuisine.
Thanks.

For home cooking, you'll have to look on the back roads well outside the town lines of such places as Princeton. Many are cleverly hidden inside what appears to be a convenience store. In the hills, we call em hillbilly markets. That's where the really good WV food is to be found.

Thanks!
Any specific places around Mercer County, or on the way to Peterstown?

Don't know if this helps any, but it's a list of restaurants. I see they have a Texas restaurant, so maybe you'll get a chance to see what REAL Texas food tastes like. Local Flavor Dining in Mercer County West Virginia - Mercer County CVB

Check out Brandon's up by Pipestem State Park. Best ribs I've ever ate.

I never heard of a chicken-fried steak till I moved to Texas.
Thanks all, I see a couple possibilities. If there are more I'd appreciate it.

If you're out and about, up Route 20...
The Diary Queen in Hinton is reputed to have one of the best West Virginia-style hot dogs in the state.

I think I have been there a few times, or at least something like it. It was next to the New River, and VERY scenic.

Yep, that's the one, across from downtown Hinton. If you sit in the lower dining room, you're right out over the water. As I recall, a lot broader menu than your typical DQ.
