Yes DK & we have had Blizzards mid March too!!!
Those with high heat bills should find out how much IF any insulation your dwelling has! & check those leaky windows & doors too!

Guys, thanks for answering my question which I asked almost 1 year ago!
 I am an experienced one now I'm trying to keep my thermostate around 66-68 but my wife requests at least 72. Oh those T wars I have several nice gentle birds also so i need to keep reasonable temperatures. So, this January when the thermometer hit 0F, i had to put my thermostate to 80s in order to have low 60's. I used additional heating for the birds. I was too scared to look at the bill, as expected , it was about $500My summer bill was about $200 or less.

Our first bill in or new residence in Bridgeport/Clarksburg was $700.00 for January.
Split zone furnaces, gas water heater and range and they claimed we used 49,000 cu/ft of gas... That's getting towards commercial rates.. Initial reading was done by an inexperienced employee (according to gas company) and they knocked off $150. Since I did not do an initial reading myself, there is no way to prove otherwise. Furnaces are over 20 years old, so I took the cover off and took a look at the exchangers. Old clam shell styles with one cracked open which reduces efficiency even further. The unit was pretty nasty. We’re installing a 97% efficiency furnace in the basement tonight, 2 stage blower. We’ll swap out the attic unit next week and add a piggy back HE heat pump system in the spring after resizing the ducts. Hopefully I can get my monthly gas/electric to behave at around $250 p/mo from now on. Gotta add insulation too.. Clarksburg/Bridgeport is waay more expensive than where I lived in Berkeley County. Electric rates were cheaper (and I had easy access to wood for the woodstove on lots of flat ground).. We paid on average $125 p/mo for an all electric house (2,200 sq.ft) there..

electric and such
we have a 3 story home with unfinished basement, we are paying about 80 a month now. BUT we also use a pellet stove for the past 2months, normally it is about 110.00

Eh- this will do until I can find a decent home or some acreage in either Doddridge or Taylor. Plus I'll have time to find the right kinda guys to get stuff done. Like last night me and the HVAC guy worked together to get the furnace in and running (and in a nick of time- it was 4deg last night). I hammerdrilled the exhaust hole through the wall, set the pipe and condensate lines while he did the gas lines, sheetmetal etc.. That's what I'm talking about- get'r done.. But I'll say this- Bridgeport is 'unique' to say the least. I hope there isn't a prohibition against skinning deer in my backyard.... Last edited by Threerun; 02-21-2008 at 08:36 AM.

You will be ok...and you will find the right place too...look over near Lumberport...or on Coon's Run Road near Shinnston...lots of places still left with lots of coon to run...anyplace in Bridgeport will be a winner when you get ready to sell.
