Talking Out-of-towner looking for "backwoods" urban legends

Does anyone have a good West Virginia hills urban legend to tell? I have an uncle (a lifelong resident of the West Virginia hills) that's told me some good ones. Can you guys beat 'em? I'm a lifelong resident of Oklahoma. Let's see what you got?

Why would there be an 'urban' legend from West Virginia?

Here's an urban legend for you. I drove through a pothole on Brockway the other day. It was huge. The freeze-thaw cycle wreaked terrible havoc this past winter and is now affecting traffic.

Thank you David and Kwit! That is exactly what I am looking for. Those are both great. I miss West Virginia and my grandmother. She was a lifelong resident of Glen Daniels and Dameron. One of the things I loved most were her stories. She was full of bull and we all knew it. LOL! I am trying to gather stories, histories, anything, to pass on to my children about West Virginia. You guys have "hollers" and in Oklahoma we have "bottoms". Ghost bridges, haunted houses......... you name it we tell it. So maybe you don't have "urban" legends but there are stories. And my family eats them up. So keep 'em coming.

What was offensive was the word legends..

In Wv, all those anecdotes, ramifications, stories from the back porch, and recollections of bygone days are all TRUE Stories. Never legends.

Jesco White is as true as it gets...and for a few bucks and plane fare, he will do a personal appearance.

Or you might get the CD or 'download, if that is available.

Isn't there an urban legend about a ghost at the Graceland Mansion in Elkins?
Other than that, I know of more urban legends in my home state of NJ than here in WV.

LOL! I really should have thought about my post before I put it up there. All the stories my Uncle Pete and Grandma told me were suppose to be TRUE. And all in the room acknowledge it with nods.

Thanks for the others I will google them as soon as I can everyone.

They also told me a little about living with the wildlife and how "You're on my property now" meant goodbye.

They weren't exactly city people. LOL!
