Clarksburg, Fairmont, Grafton areas
Moving up this weekend from South Florida. Took a job in Fairmont and will be out house hunting the next few weeks. Found a few houses in the Fairmont and Grafton areas that I like. Also found a few in Clarksburg but was told by a friend there are areas I want to stay out of.
Can anyone confirm that Nutter Fort, Stonewood, Quiet Dell, and Mount Clare are decent areas?? Had looked around Lowndes Park but was told the area is very busy and the houses aren't up to par.
Any thoughts??

Quiet Dell and Mount Clare will be nice "country atmosphere" areas as you are just a few miles from the busier Nutter Fort & Stonewood areas. You might find some other property in the Grafton area that would not be a bad commute. I do not know the location of Lowndes Park but all the other areas you mentioned are close to I-79 to commute up to Fairmont.
There may be others who can steer you better than this as I don't live in that area but have driven through all but Lownes Park (I may have driven through there also and not know it by that name.). Good luck and welcome to Almost Heaven!

I believe I spoke with you last week on properties in the area. Give me a call if you received my e-mail and let me know which ones you want to see.

If your job is in Fairmont, I don't know why you would want to live in Clarksburg. Housing is cheaper in Fairmont and you are only 15-20 minutes from Clarksburg AND Morgantown.

From what I have seen it is not much cheaper than Grafton. Unfortunately I am on a limited budget at the moment.
Now, with the state that Grafton is in economy wise and what Fairmont is, I have to agree that Fairmont would be the better choice. I am slowly learning about the areas, drive times and other things. I am even considering moving south a little further and enjoying some peace and solitude. :-)

Do yourself a favor and stick with Fairmont-areas of Whitehall,Pleasant Valley,Bunner Ridge, etc(any east side locations), also Rivesville are good. Stay away from being near the University,Bellview areas. Traffic is different here, you won't spend as much time driving as you would in larger cities. Welcome, have fun, and invest in good snow tires:-)
