Berkeley County still has some nice areas. So does Washington. Not sure about Frederick as I don't venture that way very often. The Bedington area of Berkeley County (once you get away from Spring Mills) still has plenty of open spaces (and hopefully stays that way). Areas around Hedgesville and Falling Waters do, too. It may be more by chance than because Berkeley has done anything to keep it that way but I hope those areas remain rural.

Snorpus: This Mobley thing is being kept under wraps but word has it that some Japanese developers with ties to one of their auto companies are looking at that land for a Greenbrier style casino and Hotel.
Also considering docking 2 1860 style steamboat casinos at New Martinsburg with day trips to Blennerhasset Island when the weather permits..
If I run for congress and try to unseat Mr. Congressman, the Mobley Project will be given top priority...that and a real system of roads around Morgantown can be incorporated into the highway development for North Central West Virginia.
Would certainly want you on any advisory board for that area...SW Pennsi...and North Central WV will grow and bond together in the future...Green County needs more than a prison or two for jobs...
Mobley has more than potential..

I think the potential there is more than geographic. It is also the amazing attitude of the local inhabitants. That region is home to people that are not only hard working and industrious, they also have good character and a positive attitude about life, and an incredible community spirit. You give them some tools with which to work and they will maximize the potential.

Yes, silk...your list is biased...
You did not even mention Crum, Marmet, and Elkview...Didn't the Earl of Elkview pass away a few years ago? Royalty there.
All the fat cats are going to Mobley...

Silk,
You're supposed to be biased... we're all biased. And your biases are different from my biases.
Some of your towns I've never visited, so here's my list:
10) Marlinton
9) Cass
8) Elkins
7) Harpers Ferry (for the history, otherwise too close to DC)
6) Thomas
5) Shepherdstown
4) Lewisburg
3) Davis
2) Hillsboro
1) Mobley (of course)

Has the Cherry River Navy been put in mothballs...I was a member of that great organization at one time...a past life, for sure. Needs to come back, if for nothing, the parades.
