In a House of Representatives vote yesterday two out of three of our congressional leaders voted to keep Acorn funded. Why did they do that?

The media has spent an entire week educating us on the practices of this subversive group. Were Rahall and Mollahan involved with this group?

If the entire House of Representatives overwhelmingly votes in one direction, why would our West Virginia leaders vote in another.

What is also even more puzzling is the fact that the National Census in West Virginia is almost entirely done by our school teachers during the summer. (good paying part time job, credible information taker know in the community, ect)

http://www.city-data.com/forum/polit...s-again-2.html

Hadn't looked up the WV votes yet, thanks for posting them. Mind if I x-post you there?

At least two Governors have now have nixed funding to ACORN. What's the next question?

Someone said today on Hoppy Kerchivals Radio show that Mr. Mollohan was not present for the vote, but when the voting was tabulated at 2:06 PM yesterday, he was in the NO column.
Unless there is another Mr. Mollohan from WV.

This census work is good work here in WV and safe too...pays about $16.00 per hour.
Anybody out of a job or having the time should take the training and do this.
You almost always work in your own neighborhood.

Looking at Rahall's website he says he voted for the bill. Can you vote yes on part and no on some of the amendments?

To answer my own question yes, you can.

Agreeing to the Rule for Debate
#703 241-175
Mollohan AYE
Rahal AYE
Capito NO

Final Passage H.R. 3221 to amend the Higher Education Act of 1965, and for other purposes
#719 253-171
Mollohan AYE
Rahal AYE
Capito NO

Series of Amendments #710-#717 And since there are no funds for ACORN in the bill, Rep. Issa (R-CA) has a motion to recommit and amend the bill to defund ACORN. #718 345-75
Mollohan NO
Rahal NO
Capito AYE

Here's the summary of the bill HR 3221

OpenCongress Summary

This bill would end a program that provides government subsidies to student loan companies and use the saving to increase Pell Grants and other scholarship programs. It would also provide funding for renovating and constructing public schools and community colleges and ensuring that such institutions meet environmental and energy standards. More information on what grants in this bill can be found from the House Higher Education and Labor Committee here (http://edlabor.house.gov/blog/2009/07/student-aid-and-fiscal-respons.shtml - broken link).

H.R.3221: Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009 - U.S. Congress - OpenCongress

This bill cover mostly education and student aid. Acorn was just tacked on. I'm surprised they haven't released a statement as to why they voted that way.

They're just two of the incredible elitist bozos our country seems so fond of electing to public office. We have only ourselves to blame as they continue to screw things up.

This is a political West Virginia topic in regard to voting by Rahall and Mollahan and their record. It needs to remain so and how their voting will effect WV. If not, I will move it to the political thread.
Also, any bickering going back and forth will be deleted.
