Default Why are gas prices on the rise now??

So over the past week, gas prices have jumped almost 20 cents per gallon while other areas of the country are holding steady.

So what is the reason for this?? I have yet to find anything online as far as why this is happening.

Kind of sucks when you come from Florida with prices about the same as here and now they are 20 cents cheaper.

The price of oil per barrel hit an all time high for "this year". Wednesday, at the close of business oil was $75.00 a barrel. Hens the rise at the pump. Keep track of the price per barrel here. http://www.bloomberg.com/energy/

Speculators set price, $75 means zilch.

Another reason is some crude is diverted to making Home Heating Oil and that takes the supply away from gasoline.

I really detest this drop a penny here and there and all of a sudden, BAM, up 20 cents a gallon. I drove past a station last week and it was $2.39 and by the time I could get back down there 2 hours later it was $2.55. That sucks!

Wingfoot,

I don't know if the spectaculars caused the rise in price per barrel or the weak dollar. I am going to say both. When your dollar buys less it take's more dollars to buy the same things.

Certain commodities are used in international exchange.
As the dollar becomes worth less, oil will increase in price.
Should go to about $4.00 per gallon with this money printing cycle.
Higher next year.

Corn, Soybeans and Wheat will increase too...Food will cost more...Get ready.

Time to store some food...

DK,

I'm afraid you are right. The United States of America at one time held 3 years of grain in reserve for its citizens in case of a natural disaster. Don't worry, there is enough food in stores across the country to last the population now for 3 days. We as a nation are owners of massive debt that cannot be re-payed due to the massive Federal Reserve pyramid scheme fraud which creates money out of nothing.

Where are the Hippies of the 70's?

I can answer that question:

Thousands of old hippies are in India receiving their disability checks and living like kings...smoking the legal hashish and having their servants clean their toenails..

Having done their work to destroy this country, they recline in a comfortable retirement...

This IS NOT a joke...

Part of the reason gasoline is going up in price is our military...
Buying the reserve they need for the Afganistan expansion, and the hedge for any potential involvement when Israel takes out the Iranian nuke sites before January.

Obama, even though a communist, gets his marching orders from the invisible government...just like Bush did.
Dope (Opium) is also a trade commodity, just like wheat, soybeans and oil.
