Default Frank's Theaters

I found out why this movie theater that was scheduled to open in 2008 at the Potomac Towne Center never opened and never will.

The owner had several investors who were on board with the project back out on him and he couldn't proceed by himself. My source said he even approached all the the tenants of the PTC for a possible joint-venture but nothing came from it. As a result no movie theater.

So now everyone is waiting an hoping on the soon to be built Charles Town Movie Theater.

Where are they planning to open the Charles Town Movie Theater? It would be great to have a theater in CT!

Default Charles Town Movie Theater

The theater is going up on 340 behind the Sheetz, Across from Aldi's and Windmill Crossing townhomes. That plot of land back there that has been sitting cleared for the last several months.

Default New Tenant at the PTC

Keller Williams Realty recently opened in the former Oasis tanning location between the Hallmark card store and the Chinese restaurant.

All eyes are now turn to the space between Petco and the shoe store where a sporting good store is supposed to open there.

Default Update

An Optometrist store opened between Weis and the UPS store recently.

Overall new retail is dead. Even the Village at Leesburg Plaza which opened in 2009 is struggling to get new tenants and they have a movie theater.

Existing stores are struggling as evidenced by Best Buy which said they are closing 50 stores.

I was at the PTC this past weekend and noticed that there was a sign on the out parcel between Petco and Famous Footwear. Olympia Sports is coming to the Potomac Towne Center!

I also noticed that many of the tenants do not have sister locations in Martinsburg and are only found at that shopping center including Kohls, Petco, Home Depot, Panera Bread, Roy Rogers, Glory Days Grill and now Olympia Sports. I think that was by design to attract shoppers from Martinsburg.

What would be a big boon for this shopping center is if they could convince businesses that would normally build in Martinsburg to instead build their stores in Ranson. We could use a BJ's Wholesale Club and a Hhgregg.

There seems to be plenty of wide open space that hasn't been built on yet - not sure if it's promised to anyone, but sure would love to see a Dave and Busters or The Works [PA]. Something different in this area. I think it would bring people from Martinsburg, and maybe Winchester and other neighboring locales.

The Works would be awesome! We took my toddler to Ballocity at the Works and it was by far one of the best family friendly play places.
