Here in South Charleston, I counted 60 trick or treaters - way more than last year.

We probably had a few more than 21 but NOTHING like we used to have, not even as many as we had last year.
Think parents are too worried about H1N1?

If that were true, how do we account for Corgi, Tbailer, and JRLudi [previous posters] who all reported more than last years' numbers?
I'm baffled. Too bad for the 2009 trick-or-treaters,they missed out on Teddy Grahams, mini Oreo cookies, Ritz bits, Goldfish baked chedders,...
Yummmm

Mmmm.... Payday and HEATH bars!
Last year a guy down the street gave all the kids $2 bills! I thought, "man- this dude must've bought the lot"

I remember several years back, a neighbor was giving out .2 cents.
Ah, the times they are a changing.

Had 50 to 60 kids at my parents house--in a small town in south Jersey. I was surprised because the street barely has any lights, several houses had their lights turned off, and the street was full of thick tall trees. Very festive though--kids all dress up, parents dressed up, the family dog in the group, people walking in large groups, pulling carts, etc. Some parents were collecting candy for a sick child at home (with H1N1).
Turned the lights off at 8:30pm though; the teenagers were coming around. Some of them were wearing football jerseys with monster/slasher masks and kinda creeped me out.

I remember that was the house we always avoided when we were trick or treating. The cool house always gave out 16 oz. bottles of soda

I thought that was Florida.
