Man they called about everyone out but the National Guard for that incident.
Oh wait- they're in the Middle East, lol.
That sucks. Wonder how it began.

Began over a fight about alcohol. The one dead was shot by a police officer as he aimed a gun at the officer. The other injuries were all non-life threatening. Not as sensational as the headlines make it sound. It's crazy how stupid people are about guns these days. The people carrying them like this have no thoughts of consequences at all. Great job by the HPD with a quick response.

Tim, ... is that the same place where a guy was shot a couple years ago?
Maybe they should have someone shake down patrons before they enter and check their guns at the door? You know... give them a gun check tag. Of course, they'd be expected to tip the gun check person.
This is a big problem, and I suspect the participants are somehow tied to the out of town drug trade groups that have been causing trouble for some time now. I think it's time to bring in the big guns from the DEA and shove them back up to Detriot where they will feel more at home.

Nope... That was Fluid, or formerly known at the Monkey Bar. This bar is known as Babylon, and I can't remember its name before it was that, I didn't even know it was open anymore. Both bars are on 4th Avenue. It's getting so annoying to go out in Huntington anymore. When I was a freshmen there wasn't this type of B/S. I'm glad to see the police are enforcing and having low tolerance for this behavior. Nearly all bars in Huntington actually use metal detectors and pat downs for males. I always make comments when they're doing it to me... " a little to left" "yeah right there" adds some fun to an awkward situation ha ha.
I agree with you about pushing this trash back to Detroit where it came from!!!

As GHO said, this was a newer bar and a least part of it was supposed to be more upscale. Unfortunately, bars are still places where these types of folks hang out. Lots of people, many looking for things that alter their minds be it alcohol or drugs, dark rooms, lots of noise, etc make these places attractive to do unseemly things. Also unfortunately, I think the way these people react to situations using guns/violence is a sign of the change in our times. You see these types of things all over the place now. UCONN football player shot and killed, Summitt Hall at WVU had several shots fired at/into it, the shootings at Ft. Hood and Orlando recently etc.
The thing that gets me about this type of shooting is it's always around a bar when they close. It's happened several times here over the last few years and I remember the same things would happen on High St. when I was at WVU and several times there since I graduated. I know the police chief here wants the bars to stagger their closing times but he has little power to make them do so unless they do it voluntarily. Otherwise you have more people, many drunk, emptying onto the street at the same time. The good thing is now the bar owner is closing this bar. I would love to see a more productive business that is attractive to more of the public go in that space. It would be a great spot for the downtown grocery store they keep talking about.

In my opinion, this is but the latest example of big city drug dealers and their associates spewing violence in West Virginia. Unfortunately, the most glaring examples have happened in Huntington but Tim is absolutely correct... it is going on elsewhere in the State too. There was a murder in Morgantown a couple years ago related to the same crap. I suspect state government is not equipped to deal with this and think it is time to bring pressure on the Feds to clear up the matter.
