WE: ie American Expansionists of the 17th, 18th and 19th century...patterned after the English Empire Expansionist Polices that were prior...mostly fueled by the big businesses of that day...East India Company, Hudson's Bay Company, ect...
Our domestic expansion policies were fuel by the westward railroad expansion and quest for free land.
That's who we is in a nutshell.
This social and economic model is cyclic and we are seeing the circle close on us...glad I was here to enjoy it...
It's been a great ride.

Well said, I can't dispute your point. However, the illegal alien issue still can and should be dealt with. Our native culture may suck in oh so many ways, but it's the one I'm used to, and as long as I'm still here i will resist the Aztlan takeover. nothing against mexicans, but if you look at their culture, is that what you want here? Gang rule, basically. Police who attempt to enforce the law find their co-workers or loved ones beheaded on their doorstep. mexicans don't understand our concept of government, because they never had it.
Anyone not familiar with this, but curious, go to the LA Times website, or just Google Mexican Drug War, etc. and prepare to be amazed.

As I've mentioned before, I'm all for a persons personal right to suicide...if it is quick and not too costly, that's fine in my book...
But dope-heads are a different breed of sucides and take a very long time to complete the job...they should be sequestered into some of our prisons and given all the 'crap they need to finish the job...put them on a 24 hr time line and then work the fertilizer cremation machine to re-coup the cost...
Dope-heads are simply nonproductive abortions who have survived too long...
My view may seem extreme but Chairman Mao solved his dope-head (opium) problem in about three years with very little expense (about .02 cents a round) and look at the worlds Walmart model for capitalism now...from literally walking barefoot to driving cars in 50 years...
If you haven't heard the news lately...China owns us...yes, they do...and they have done it legally..
Thank you, Nixon and Kissinger
China may be the willing partner to solve our illegal immigrant situation (when they begin to fill those millions of re-posesssed houses with their own people.)
Their loans to us have been guaranteed with real estate...both residential and commercial....for some reason they did not want our money in cash.

This thread echoes a symptom of our own problems as individuals in our nation. I cannot help but laugh when people evoke judeo-christian ethics, particularly when that ethos was a culmination spanning thousands of years (predating christ), but in their minds, they're more than happy to take ALL the credit but NONE of the blame for western civilization as we know it today. How does that behavior reflect judeo-christian ethics?
Apparently Madison ave has done such a artful job of brainwashing it's infiltrated our manner of speaking/ relating, as if infomercial. Sell sell sell that idea no matter the defect. Align yourself with all that is good & holy, deny the bad by blaming others in St Elsewhere for the problems ruining your version of Eden. Smear anyone who disagrees. Standing on the backs of others to feel taller is also an American tradition. One we could stand to rid ourselves permanently.
Alan and Dolly are acquaintances of mine. Their nation of origin is India. They're a professional couple who married in USA while on visas and went home to meet and greet their larger family near the time their visas were due to expire. They'd like to return, have jobs and housing waiting for them, but there's a 2+ yr waiting list for visas. They're unwilling to break the law and heart of hearts intend to become American citizens. Yes, they did pay taxes on their professional incomes while here. No, they were not on proverbial public dole that americans abuse. I would hate to think either of them, making their way to the front door of our country, would have their employers harassed with presumptions of illegal activity.
I must agree with threerun on this subject. His solution is both fiscally responsible and doesn't wrongfully burden those who comply with the law. The gravest question for all citizens to ask is why the law is selectively enforced based on political whims. Devils advocate for Nixon- his math never ignored trade deficits the way our nations leaders have for decades. They've abdicated responsibility on so many levels since Reaganomics. This isn't proper governance.
Judeo christian ethics decided illegal immigrants were fine as frogs hair. Go ahead folks, write the Vatican and ask the Holy See WHY his vote counts more than yours in our secular nation. While you're at it you can ask him why he's sponsoring a troop of Bishops to meddle with your proposed health care plan in DC. The Vatican is also a lobbyist. What's wrong with this picture???

What's wrong with the pic?
Clear enough to me...POWER...pure and simple...Vatican is not political? Let me sell you that bridge...I almost puked when I was telling my lady that the catholics were going to send us down the river...
How about the Jews...have we ever let them pull the chain from Wall Street?
Now it's the Muslims...and they are yanking on the chain...can anybody see??? A deal has been cut?
It's the Non-news that is the real news...what we get is Tigers problems and Mike Jacksons death...public control and Power...
You mentioned your Indian friends..and so many scoff because they do not understand the morality, honesty and duty to principle...tragically lost here.
Good for you/them for having each other.

The bottom line is it is OUR country, and nobody has a "right"
to be here unless they are here legally. Illegal aliens are
breaking our laws, which is as wrong as the boneheaded left
wingers who don't care and the greedy right wingers who
want to exploit them for cheap labor. Both groups are wrong,
even though they are in bed together politically.
We don't need any more cheap labor... we have 15 million
unemployed Americans as it is. And, our already overburdened
social service system sure doesn't need any more people to
support on the backs of our taxpayers, nor do we need the
crime and other problems associated with the illegals. They
are their own countries' responsibility, not ours.

You're right CT...working part time equates to cheap labor...and we have 20 million out of work?
I heard the real count was about 17.5% not 10%.
Watched the news the other night and thought the reporters were in a foreign country...think it was Chicago or Detroit...sad
