I cannot believe how CT & DK manage to hijack literally every post and turn it into "the socialist liberal elites are ruining this country, lets teabag!". Can we please get a moderator (atlantagreg maybe?) to start moderating and cleaning up the political diatribes around here, unless it has to do with local issues? There are political forums on city-data, and I don't need to go to see these two get each other off on EVERY SINGLE THREAD.

Um...yes there are. Coulter? Limbaugh? Beck? They are easily just as inflammatory, irresponsible, hyperbole prone, and overall just idiotic.
I swear to God, liberals can easily identify conservative idiots...and conservatives can identify liberal idiots...but they rarely seem to be able to identify their own idiots...

I don't disagree with expressing displeasure, but I tend to expect more smears in the future towards West Virginia via (ahem) news outlets, because of strong opposition to cap-n-trade here.
Companies like GE will profit from cap-n-trade passing because there are industries that do not exist, and will not exist, without this legislation creating them, and that translates to political influence and propaganda.
When in doubt, follow the money : MSNBC is owned 50% by Microsoft and 50% by NBC. NBC is owned 80% by GE.
So research what you buy . . if GE, either overtly or by acquience, smears West Virginia, then don't buy anything from GE or its affiliates, and shut off NBC, et.al., and make that clear to any establishment with a tube, you will not continue be their patron unless they change the channel.
It's just that simple.

Agreed! I'm one of those dreaded liberal Democrats from the hinterlands of Fairfax County, Virginia, and now that I've experienced all the fine qualities that West Virginia has to offer firsthand I'm tiring of hearing all of the snarky "inbred" jokes and "gun-toting" assumptions about the people there. Granted I've only been spending time in the Eastern Panhandle counties (which are entirely DC exurbs anyways), but the people there I've met have hearts of gold. No, they might not all drive BMWs, sip Starbuck's lattes, fiddle with their iPhones, and bop their heads to Lady Gaga like half of Fairfax County does, but so what? I could easily see myself moving to Shepherdstown or Harper's Ferry at some point for a less stressful environment.
I'm glad to see people so outraged over this.

Read the first post in the thread folks. Anyone else who decides to turn this into a political "them vs them" discussion will enjoy the infractions they get that suspend their posting ability for hijacking a thread and going off topic. There will not be another warning.
Capishe?

Thanks Atlanta!
Let's ALL try to stay on topic a little better so we can get more enjoyment out of reading this forum.
Back to topic: Does anyone have the email address to the news station there?

Thank you so much and I completely agree! I get that there aren't many people inquiring about moving to West Virginia compared to other city-data forums but these two (along with several others) have turned this site into nothing more than one constant political debate that they somehow always magically tie to West Virginia. I'm glad atlantagreg is also now focusing on such postings.

I thank you for bringing this to my attention and yes, they did get a love note from myself.
For those unawares, if you click on chris needhams name, then go to the bottom, there is a contact us link. I contacted public relations and put chris's name in the subject header. My note stated what kind of mgmt allows this wannabe journalist idiot to run his mouth under the NBC logo. It also stated that after centuries have passed, denying that WV is a state in our UNITED states does little for the cause of keeping our nation united. Virginia proper should consider getting over their narcissism someday soon. I extended an invitation for chris to come visit charleston if only he could man up enough to receive his baptism in the Kanawha river. I also used my feminine wiles to entice him with a nice cup of S.T.F.U. Do you suppose this will suffice?

Yes and if we can vote on one thing together, I think we'd agree that villages need to keep far better track of policing their idiots so as to not harm foreign relations they way they've been the past decade.
You've earned the finest homemade cocoa, with warm milk, in a big mug. AND cookies! I'll bet your mom is proud.
How much of censorship is a job all our own? I do my best not to burden mods no matter how neato their thunder bolt. The latest attack on Sen Byrd thread I think an argument against gay mothman pol pot hippie liberals wishing our senator drop dead might fit there. Lets see how it gets angled.
