Default Connection between Florida and West Virginia

I am from Florida and have lived off and on in West Virginia for the past two years. I'm curious to know about all the Florida tags I see in WV.

I lived in Summers County, and was always in the Beckley area where I saw quite a few. Answers anyone?

Well it;s like this...Hillbillies like to travel.

They have two major places...Myrtle Beach for the weekly get-a-ways.

And Florida to wait out the winter...we will go in January for about 5 weeks.
Get that tan, hug a grandchild to death, visit dear friends and enjoy the surf, fish and just catch up on life (golf)...

besides, It's Warm Down There...

That's why you see a lot of Wv tags in Florida...our houses for the most part stay unmolested in Wv.

Florida has a rule...Out by April 15th...ha ha...and that's good.

Many of those Floridians are people who have holdings and reside in both states and travel back and forth often.

My great aunt began this family winter movement when she moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1939...now we can't get it stopped..nor do we want to..

Plus it's not just ex-WV snowbirds... Beckley is the gateway to I-77 and I-79 if you're headed to Ohio, Michigan, or Western Pennsylvania.
