Schools, area, resale issues, etc..

I am not sure if your point is correct either, most of my clients would be okay with paying more for a house like in Somers and better tax structure than a cheaper house in Yorktown with higher taxes.. the total cost between taxes and mortgage is still more in Somers. So the idea that they can't "afford" the taxes is not true at all, they just don't see any reason for it.

As a realtor, you can't really discuss what schools are 'good', knock an area (let the client decide where they feel comfortable in), and so on. The house my clients are buying is one of the smallest houses in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city and it is perfectly livable right on. Directly behind it is a property that is recently apparsiased by the town for taxes to be worth $1.75 million dollers.

I have referred dozens of clients to CT brokers in the past 12 months, New Fairfield seems to be the most popular choice or where most of them end up. I used to 1st suggest Danbury because of the proximity to NY and decent home prices, I was told by my clients that the reason they did not go with Danbury are "Schools, area, resale issues, etc.." Their words not mine. Not sure if the CT brokers told them this but I sure didn't because I do not handle CT, but they are all coming up with the same reason for choosing other areas in CT.

Yeah, but Yorktown has always been a good home seller, so people pay the taxes and want to move here cause they know its worth it.

I would agree there too, like I said in a previous post I like Yorktown but some of the houses even priced around $400,000 or so have some really high taxes, I can understand the $800,000+ houses having high taxes. Either way it is still a very nice town.

I hear ya, just defending the town I live in, I think it was being attacked a little.

Relocating to Yorktown Heights
My family and I are looking into relocating to Yorktown Heights. It seems like that right place for us. I was wondering if the residents of Yorktown Heights are concerned about being too close to the Indian Point Power Plant. Does anyone know exactly how far it is?

Anywhere from 15-20 minutes away depending on where in Yorktown and to be honest no one even brings it up as an issue. Besides if anything goes wrong there even 50 miles away, we are all screwed
