Gee, I hadn't noticed myself turning blue or purple. Nor have I seen any facts in your posts. Guess I am missing a lot. And if you don't see the snidness and vitriol in your comments, you're missing a lot too.
Your polemic on development is the closest you've come to reality. Northern Yorktown did indeed get greatly overdeveloped. YH, however, was largely saved from that fate. Certainly the town took too long to deal with the overdevelopment that occured in the north and in the center of the YH business hamlet. But the new comprehensive plan does address it moving forward and there is a tremendous amount of preserved open space in YH and a great deal more planned for in the comprehensive plan.

since you won't share with us what your taxes are on your home in YH. I was wondering... you said you are an educator. I would venture a guess that you are administration. am I right?
I'm glad we finally agree on something. I will say this. YH has a great task ahead of itself as open space is a great challange due to its city planning and layout. just look at it on google earth. no need for rocket science here just two eyes that see. Like I said you must include open space in the master plan at the cit planning level. since that was never implemented going back will prove to be very costly. Yet another fact that we agree on. and the taxes will continue to go up in this area due to the comprehensive master plan in the works.
Anywho... I think its clear (although you won't admit it) that you have an underlying agenda to make YH into a bit more than it actually is. this is why I say you are bias and you happen to live there. anyone can see this and it is the basis for your attacks against me.
I think if you really look at what I have been saying all along. you will see that I never really said anything bad about YH and as much as you try to deny, what I stated here IS factual and I have even prooved you wrong on many of your points. I posted actual links to facts which undeniably shead light on Y/YH. anyway, if you feel the need to continue your attacks against me. thats fine it matters not. That does not bother me. Its been fun!

Actually, no to all of the above. I think there has been perhaps one sentence of truth in all of your comments--that northern Yorktown is overbuilt--but the rest is rubbish. YH is my home, by choice, but I believe I see it's pros and cons very clearly. Everything you said above about future problems and rising taxes is just more nonsense. As I said before, the comprehensive plan that was recently approved by a town-wide referendum deals with all of the issues you are pretending are so dire--without raising any taxes, thanks. And Please stop pretending that I agreed to things that I clearly did not just so I'll respond. I can tell you're desperate for the attention, but really.
As for "proving me wrong on many points," again I must have missed that. You seem to winning all sorts of arguments in your head. But I am afraid the only person you are convincing is yourself.
So, I came back to post because I realized why the Journal News median price figure is lower than the WPMLS figure. The JL figure is for all of Yorktown whereas the WMPLS figures are compiled by school district. So the 550K median is for homes in Yorktown Central School district (southern Yorktown) while the 489K figure includes northern Yorktown, which is generally cheaper and include far fewer large homes on large properties.
And no, I am not an administrator.
As for my taxes, why the eagerness? But, since you're dying to know, go ahead and guess. My house is 3,500 square feet, built in 1700's, on 4 acres with a barn. Remember taxes are based on size of house, age (new homes are taxed higher), size of property, and number of structures on the property. Give it your best shot.

why is it that you don't include a single referance to back your claims. now you devise some sort of creative way to explain your BS on the median home price in YH. why don't you link them here for all to see where you are getting your numbers from? you like to play cat and mouse and I don't see anyone coming on here supporting all of your claims or mine for that matter. I am afraid that no one CARES what you have to say or about your beloved YH. oh and I need the attension??? You now want me to guess your taxes on your home. do you think I really give a .....
I got better things to do but I'm sure you will enlighten everyone by telling them just how little you pay and how great YH is. Frankly, I don't care as I know YH just as much as you say you do. However, trough an unbiased eye. I HAVE NO STAKE IN IT. YOU DO! I wish you luck in the sale of your home. Maybe I'll be buying it. Oh I forgot its not for sale right? Yah right!
BU-BYE. See yah!
oh one last thingy... if your not administration, you should be. That was the point, sertainly was not a question. But you didn't get it. Heres the last, become an administrator I think you'd be better at it than an educator.

As I expected.
The WPMLS numbers come from the North County News. Feel free to look for the link. As for my "making things up," that would be your aproach not mine. I simply remembered how the WPMLS compiles it's figures. To be honest, I wouldn't waste the energy on this to actually make anything up.
Good luck finding a house you can afford. With any luck, all of your work will pay off and prices somewhere will drop enough for you to manage. I'll keep an eye out for you in YH since that seems to be your primary target area.

I thought that everyone should know that I looked up the news periodical that the poster above makes vague referance to. First, I fount the news periodical but there is no referance to median home price...and its a very biased local news listing that is written in YH for the sole promotion of YH.
North County News
1520 Front Street
Yorktown Heights
NY 10598
However, I could not find any such difinitive information on median home prices and the POSTER refuses to post a link here after being asked to prove his point. He refuses to answer direct and simple questions and he continues to personally attack me. He attacks me here calling me names with his condesending mannor. He does so in the hope that I will not continue exposing his lies with REAL CONCRETE FACTS AND FIGURES as I have done so to date and he can not. all of this, because he lives in YH and is trying to sell his home but can't due to the buyers market that exists today and getting worse for the sellers out there. It must be a tough thing trying to sell for over a year after constant reductions in price and still no buyer prospects.
As for me, sure I may end up in YH. If I do I will not have any delusions of the town and its continued problems and issues and would have paid for a home price accordingly.
Have a great day and I wish you continued luck in the sale of your home. You are goign to need it.
any further worthless communication is urged via PM. Otherwise if you have real links to real data that is meaningful and advances your cause Be sure to link them here.

funny here is what I did find on this periodical...
Yorktown hit with 5 percent tax increase By Adriane Tillman
Vol. 41, Number 46 Issue of 11/14/07 Updated: 11/15/07
“The value of the town is not growing so taxes go up more,” Goldberg said.
Goldberg crafted the budget with Roker and department heads were consulted prior to creating the budget, according to Roker.
The town’s financial model projects the town’s tax increase for four years.
The $5 million bond for bridge replacements, drainage repairs and roadwork added 1.6 percent to the tax rate this year, although the town hasn’t borrowed the full $5 million.
The $5 million bond, approved in May 2007, includes replacing the Crompond Bridge over Hunter’s Brook for $5 million; $1.35 million worth of upgrades to Baptist Church Road, including pavement rehabilitation and drainage repair; the Commerce Streetscape project of replacing pavements, trees and benches for $700,000; replacing two boilers at the Yorktown Community Cultural Center for $550,000; replacing the Sherman Court Bridge for $300,000; and drainage repairs on Kear Street for $500,000.
as for infrastructure... here is a small example:
Beaver Ridge residents get sidewalk, Highway Super has safety concerns By Adriane Tillman Vol. 41, Number 46 Issue of 11/14/07 Updated: 11/15/07
Yorktown is full steam ahead for building sidewalks along Route 118 from Kear Street to Downing Drive—but the Highway Superintendent is concerned about residents’ safety and the cost of maintaining the sidewalk.
Town officials say the sidewalk is necessary. The project will cost $360,000 in total, but Community Development Block Grants will pay for $265,000.
a need for open space for dog poo:
Yorktown dog owners howl for a park By Adriane Tillman
Vol. 41, Number 42 Issue of 10/17/07 Updated: 10/18/07
Friends of the Dog Run of Yorktown are still chasing hopes of finding a place to unleash their pets in Yorktown, since the prospect of a dog run at FDR State Park appears dead.
The group submitted a petition to the state to create a dog park at FDR State Park in 2002, but has still not received appr.....
and folks this is just a few out of a laundry list of others. Thought I'd post here for anyone who is interested in the posters periodical that only supports what I have been saying all along.

Your point is that the town is working hard to add improvements, update bridges, improve drainage, and add sidewalks? With the impact of 1.6% increase? This is good stuff. Unlike most towns, Yorktown is actually trying to improve things. The sidewalks are an attempt to make the downtown area more pedestrain friendly, which is a good thing.
In what way do you see these as negatives? Or are you now a Yoktown booster? I can see why you have been converted. If I were looking for a home I too would pick a town that was making improvements to infrastructure and and trying to reduce the reliance of residents on cars. And I too would want to select a town that was doing these things with such minimal impact to the town budget and taxes. I agree that that is a much better pick than many of the other towns which raise town taxes every year simply to meet costs and without adding any concrete improvemnts. Like you I have driven all over northern Westchester and I have seen the sorry state of so many bridges and roads in some towns.
As for the dog run, Yorktown would be the only town in area to have one, if this ever gets off the ground. But we can hope.
Thanks for helping to promote the town, house shopper!
