So after an exhaustive and frenzied homebuying search, we finally decided to rent in lower Westchester vs. continue in these endless bidding wars for substandard houses since we missed the spring selling season.
We are, however, having a bit of a problem finding a month-to-month rentals under $4K though. We will almost certainly need it for 6 months but do NOT want to sign a 1 year lease. We want a house, multi-family or a TH with a yard. Don't want an apartment with 2 small kids.
We've been looking on Craigslist and the MLS but haven't had much luck thus far. Anything but Yonkers and Mt. Vernon is OK, as are the River Towns up to Irvington. Any recommendations? Thanks
also DO NOT rent in Armonk. we rent a cottage on 8 acres property with a lake - month to month . sounds really cool....right? but the landlord is a crook and jerk. he is actually broke so did not pay to maintain the cottage. our stuff stored in the basement all damaged from flooding. And he would yell and badger us for closing his gate too loud or keeping a toy car on the grass. So BE CAREFUL for month to month deal. If the landlord is mentally sick, he may use that just to lure you in.
