I would say Danbury,Ct. It is about 45 minutes away from White Plains. There are several properties that fit your needs that would be about a $440,000 investment. The commute is a little bit further than what you are looking for, but property taxes on the other side of the state line would be about Double!
Check out Yonkers, it's 15 minutes south, another 20 minutes south and your in Manhattan. Taxes are about 4-6 K lots of good neighborhoods, scools are not the greatest.
If you have kids go 20 minutes north to Yorktown, great scools and lots of housing.
we are moving to NY to work in White Plains for Nokia. I presently work for Nokia in Finland.
can anyone suggest an affordable town within 30 min driving distance where we could buy 2000sq. house with a yard for less than 500K ?
thanks
staten island the north shore you can walk to the ferry terminal which was just redone for the famous ride ...house prices are droping the next year will be a great time to buy.
