I know the people on here have mixed opinions about Peekskill, but most posts seems to agree there are certain spots that aren't too pleasant. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me specifically where this area/ areas are. I mean if you're ok with Peekskill as a whole, as I am, what blocks would you not want to live in if you were looking for a place. Is there anywhere specifically that you wouldn't feel comfortable walking from one place to another at 1 or 2 in the morning. Keeping in mind I'm a single guy in my late 20's. I know there's no guarantee of safety anywhere, but are there neighborhoods where there's thugs hanging out at night looking to bother somebody who's minding their own business.

I'm 31 and lived in Peekskill for most of my life..........Peekskill has been cleaned up alot. I lived in Bohlman Towers back in the day and that was the roughest part of Peekskill........I have no idea of these rough areas these people speak of now.

Default OK Here's the deal

Went to HS in Peekskill. The "city" is sleepy and should actually be considered a town. There are no bad parts; just slummy parts. ie. main st, monument area, bohlman towers, around oakside school, james st, howard st, paulding st, orchard st, park st, lincoln terrace, south st, smith st. People consider it BAD because there are spanish and blacks. I would not live on these streets though, kinda ghetto. Just look at it as I do by the 4 elementary schools. There is oakside=ghetto area (downtown/west peekskill).
Hillcrest is in eastern peekskill=so/so. Uriah hill is in northern peekskill=so/so. Woodside, HS, Middle school=most residential area with homeowners and less renters. Areas by all three are nice. All streets in Peekskill are tree-lined and quiet except for Oakside area and downtown Main/cross streets. I listed them above. Good Luck. Sure it will be temporary 'cause nothing to do there.
