Somers is not Katonah, and people who believe they have Katonah mailing address makes them residents of Katonah are mistaken..Somers is considered 'blue collar' when comparring itself to Katonah,
Once you're out of the Town of Bedford, you would not qualify for any of the town amenities, including parking at the train station. Non-resident spots are few, and much more expensive than a permit for a town resident. There are limited metered spots, too; hence why most from Somers who need parking do not commute through Katonah. If you don't take the train, then it would be schools, parks & recreation, etc. that would be the primary reason to be in the Town of Bedford, when looking at Kaotnah addresses.

I can't think of any "benefits" per se - but I know that the Somers schools are good schools. We live in the Katonah school district but we had looked at living in Somers, and I know that the schools in Somers were really respectable.
There is a benefit. Tax Arbitrage --- sort of. There are very few places with low taxes in Westchester. Somers happens to be one of them. As such, in the area that the OP is describing, you can be pretty close to the train and 684 for commuting, still have a good but lower key school district, and have rock bottom taxes for Westchester. Other portions of the Somers district are comparatively inconvenient.
