hello everyone,

i was wondering if there is any legal problem with switching from one agent to another. I have worked with several agents in the past and they all gave me a buyers agent agreement to sign which i did because they told me it was non-binding but now im not so sure. really shouldve read the whole thing before signing. anyway please let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

If you are the "buyer" then having a "buyers agent" clause is good. Historically the goal was for the seller to get the best deal because commissions are paid by the seller. The agreement tells the listing agent that your agent is only going to negotiate in your best interest.

Now if you have been activley working with an agent but feel that it is not the right fit for you switching after several months can be tacky and even get sticky at times.

It all depends on if you sigened an exculsive buyer agency agreement.........and what that agreement covered. Did it only last for a certain period of time, did it only cover a certain town? You must be aware of what you signed.
