Does anybody know the difference between Briarcliff and Briarcliff Manor? Looking at the map, I see a "Briarcliff Manor" just above mt pleasent, and just below Ossining. The reason I ask, is because I am looking at houses online in the Briarcliff Manor area that i see on the map, but the link below rating schools, only shows the name "Briarcliff" alone. I want to make sure I am looking at the same places.
Also, in general, what are your thoughts on Briarcliff Manor. I am looking for homes commutable to NYC, in the 550 max range, and good schools.
They are one in the same. Its going to be hard for you to find something in that price range in Briarcliff unless you purchase a small fixer upper which will probably be around 1500 sq feet or possibly a townhome. Schools are great and commute is pretty good too
Thanks mfenimore, but from what I am seeing, there are plenty of homes, with a lot more land and features then I would get in other westchester homes I have been looking at. This obviously goes against what you are saying. Makes me wonder if I am looking in the "wrong" area. If you don't mind, I am pasting some links to a few of the houses I clicked on today. Perhaps you can tell me if this is still the same place we are taling about with good schools.
You need to be careful-some of Briarcliff is in Ossining schools, not Briarcliff School District. None of these homes are in Br. Schools. House on Chappaqua is a busy street too.
Most of the major real estate firms websites let you search for homes by school district. Using a RE website is better than using zillow in my opinion because they search directly against the westchester mls.
Very interesting, thanks to both of you. So how can I figure out on my own which school district the houses reside in?
Appreciate the help!
Any MLS site will allow you to search by district. The Westchester Realtors site is good and lets you search the entire MLS by school, town, or other criteria:
I've posted links to RE site before and will do it again! In my opinion, Houlihan Lawrence has the best site, mainly because the ability to search by school district is built right in to the search form.
