Anyone have opinions as to the best Jul 4 fireworks in Westchester? I'd actually be interested in two categories: 1) Best fireworks show and 2) Best overall experience - meaning not uncomfortably crowded, difficult to park, etc. I'd consider going to see a more mediocre display if it mean not having to get there 3 hours early to get a spot, etc.

The best experience I've had was at the Trump golf course in Briarcliff. They do some kind of clambake party for members with a huge display outside the clubhouse at the top of the hill, but you can park anywhere along the course and throw some blankets and chairs on the grass and get a great view (almost too great - you may get some ashes falling on you from time to time!)

Mamaroneck Harbor. Go early, give your kid some money for the Fireman's Carnival, it's very nice. Bring bug spray.

The firemen's carnival ends on Sunday in Mamaroneck. Its a nice show albeit very late last year, but there isn't much else going on there.

The carnival runs everyday through July 5th, 7-11pm. The fireworks on the 4th start at 9:15pm.

The Mamaroneck fire truck parade last night was great - fire trucks and bands from all over Westchester.
The best were the old ones with hand-driven wailing sirens. Great if your a boy or an adult boy that is.
The teenagers also like the rides at the carnival - the best one this year is the zipper.

Just to clarify, though, the fireworks in Mamaroneck last year didn't start until almost 10. My little ones were a mess.

They waited until Playland and every private club finished theirs on the Sound before starting.
