I am very interested in a Spanish language immersion program in elementary school for my child. Do any of the Westchester school districts offer such a program (or any secondary language)? Any in Rockland county?
Ossining has a dual language program. However, it is a lottery system and they get about twice as many applicants as available spots. We did not get in for pre-K. We applied again for KG and haven't heard yet. After KG they don't offer spots anymore. Though if you do get the first child in, all your future children get a guaranteed spot.
Believe it or not, Mount Vernon (at least Traphagen Elementary School AFAIK) used to do this (even in Kindergarten!) and it involved everyone, not a lottery or anything, but stopped it about 3 or 4 years ago due to budget cuts.
