Just got a letter in the post from North American Power (napowerwestchester.com) The letter says that ConEd charges 7.82c/kWh (Mine is actually 6.1321c/kWh) whereas this company offers it for 4.99c/kWh. I saw some other company in front of Mrs. Green's the other day, don't remember the name but they wanted me to sign minimum 6 month contract. The rates were comparable to this company.

I wonder if anyone has looked into this and if its really worth changing a provider.

Many thanks.

I am also interested in any information on this matter if anyone has switched from ConEd.

You have to figure out your total utility cost before you even think about switching. The cost you are being quoted in the providers charge just for their service.

But they still have to use Con Ed's transmission lines. And Con Ed does not do that for free. So on top of the basic electric rate, you have to add on transmission fees, line service charges, etc.

Try to get some one at the alternative provider to give a full quote covering all possible fees before doing anything. Sometimes you're really gaining nothing.

has anyone found a good opportunity to switch? I just moved in to a new place in Ardsley and it looks like the natural gas is being supplied by "Alpha Gas" however, i can't imagine what the savings is for that. I will be calling to see what i can find out about this current setup.
