I'm a recent transplant to Dobbs Ferry. In Philadelphia, as a freelancer working from home, I had to apply for a business license and pay Business Priviledge Tax and Net Profit Tax. I can't seem to sort out the laws in Westchester County. The county clerk's office was vague, saying I probably don't need a business certificate if I'm operating under my own name. The Town of Greenburgh web site says I need a permit, for which I would need to submit site plans and parking diagrams. That seems a little excessive for my situation, but I don't want to get hit with a ton of penalties down the line. Any advice from other freelancers out there? Thanks!
