We are considering buying a home in Irvington- would like some info. Is there much diversity in village- as far as ethnic makeups, religious affiliations, etc. Is it considered a well- to do town, middle class, liberal, conservative or a bit of everything??? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

thanks for info, but wanted to get a feel for the people who live there- since my kids would be growing up there. is it considered a "snobby town", extremely wealthy- like a bronxville/scarsdale? is there great competition in the schools? any info would appreciated!

There is some major wealth in Irivington. But if you drive up and down Route 9 or on the streets off Main Street, you will notice that many people live in cooperative garden apartment buildings and modest single-family houses on narrow lots.
So I would say there is pretty decent economic diversity in Irvington. And it does not have the overbearing snobby reputation of Scarsdale or Bronxville (or Chappaqua or Armonk). |

Hi SallyG,
My name is Rich. I have an old friend who has lived in Irvington for many years. The town has changed alot since then. One town you might like is Nyack .It's convenient to NYC and is an artsy creative type of area. Best Wishes, Rich Last edited by Cornerguy1; 11-16-2007 at 02:37 PM. Reason: realtor solicitation |
