Hello, Everyone

I'm new on here i see everyone has some good advice. So I am thinking of moving to yonkers. i just got my section 8. and want to move. I'm currently living in the bronx, I don't want to move to far into yonkers just close enough where I can still be near Family and friends. Can you get a nice Apartment out there with section 8 and is there a nice area to live?

The only areas that accept Section 8 in Yonkers are in the Southwest portion of the city. That area isn't much better than most places in the Bronx. Lots of public housing and crime in that area.

I live in Southwest Yonkers. I am not crazy about it, but I feel it is better than the bronx. Crime is everywhere. Even up north where the environment is supposed to be better quality of life. From what I hear it is just as bad, with the robberies, pedifiles, and murders.

Sorry to say NO! Do not move to southwest yonkers. Check the east end of McLean ave near the Bronx! you would be better off in New rochelle

I own a multi family in East Yonkers and I have taken section 8. It is difficult to get a landlord to take it (Sometimes).

It isn't the area, it's the landlord. So you and any broker that you may work with will have your work cut out for you. Check Craig's List.

All the best!

I agree with UKEKA... I also have section 8 attend Lehman College and work full time! Section 8 has helped me in many ways, as a single mother is hard to work full time and attend school. I live very close to Riverdale in the BX... and have section 8; you'll be surprise to learn where they will accept your voucher. If you have good credit and no default with court housing issues you should be good! Good luck!
