Hello,

I am new to the forum and would like some advice and opinions about special education programs in west chester county, ny for children with High Functioning Autism (HFA). My family and I are seriously thinking about moving to west chester county with our 6 year old twin boys who both have HFA. Any advice about great special ed programs would be appreciated. I have heard that Ardsley, Eastchester, Bronxville are very good for special needs. Are there any others and/or new information or experiences with any of these school districts? Many thanks.

I have heard good things about those districts. I used to recommend Pleasantville but they are really changing their programs and everything is changing in terms of special ed.

Pelham. Supposedly they have one of the best programs in the state.

As long as you are not in Yonkers, all are good. Depending on the child's deficit, you may have to choose one over the other. But hands down, what parents do is most significant than what school the child goes to.

Ian3, can you please comment further on how the programs in Pleasantville are changing?

I know someone who had to pull his child out and place in a special ed school due to inadequate support. I live in chappaqua and I was planning to move to pleasantville but dropped the idea after hearing the story
