I'm currently house hunting and trying to decide if Pleasantville schools and community would be compatible with Hastings and/or Dobbs Ferry. Any insight you can provide on your experience will be greatly appreciated.
I know I can get a bit more house for our money in P-ville, but is it worth leaving the rivertowns?
Thanks in advance!

J have lived in both.

Commute is longer in Pville.

Taxes higher in Hastings.

Most of Hastings is walkable but only some of Pville is.

Schools are great in both but I found Hastings was more of a one-size-fits-all approach.

I also found the people in Hastings to be more cliquish.

Default Pleasantville vs Hastings

Thanks ponytrekker. Where do you live now? How did you find the people in Pleasantville?

All of Pville village is walkable, just not the whole school district (parts of Mt Pleasant goto Pville)

Both have great schools. If you enjoy shopping on Central ave then I suggest staying down south of 287. Most of the shopping being done by residents of Pville will take place in Kisco or WP.

Enjoy? its a horrible experience --especially the southern portion...

Pleasantville all the way. Mount kisco is worlds apart from central ave. Although you don't have the same selection, the people are more civilized. Central avenue is a blight on westchester county
