Yes, traffic up here is worse, what was I thinking?? I have lived in both areas, have you?????

I highly doubt you spend too much time in Bronxville! but I am sure its even worse in Mount Vernon/Fleetwood..right???

Could he mean getting to the train station?

We were in Mt Kisco last weekend and it was a nightmare. Traffic chaos. In fact, it's like that every single time I have to go there. Any street near the downtown area is stopped bumper to bumper. So let's be real here. You all make it sound like you drive around and don't see another car anywhere or hit a single light anywhere you need to go.

And I don't need to live in Mt Kisco to know what the traffic is like as long as I drive around there, which is what you are encouraging people to do... Oh yes, you can easily drive to Mt Kisco for all your shopping needs. And sit in traffic all day. Just sayin.

Exactly. Have no idea what John is talking about. Bronxville traffic always seems to move. I forgot about the Mount Kisco nightmare.

Mt Kisco traffic is a nightmare at rush hour, but its only in the center of the village and is not hard to skirt. With the exception of MK center and stretches of routes 117 and 202, northern Westchester is pretty much traffic-free. I love driving up here, and I refuse to drive in the city or down county.

I used to be in Mt Kisco every afternoon from 12-2 and had to quickly learn all the side roads and short cuts to avoid the traffic congestion. We were up there on a Sunday afternoon and it was gridlock.

But you bring up another point that people living up there seems to forget - we ALL learn the side roads and short cuts to get around, no matter where we live. I don't get stuck in traffic aaaaaallllll the way down here in Mamaroneck because I know when and where to drive. So the traffic argument for northern Westchester is moot in my opinion.

In any case, I think the OP should stick to Katonah village and Ridgefield or New Canaan even. His wife is a city girl and I think somewhere like Pound Ridge might be a little too isolated for her. Completely my opinion though. CT towns might be a little too uptight though. Very preppy, but beautiful in a New England sort of way.

The village of Mount Kisco is one tiny area of Northern Westchester. I don't live in the village of Mount Kisco but go there often. Most of the time its completely fine, except rush hour and sometimes 117 on the Bedford Hills border on the weekends.

This is in stark contrast to White Plains and southern Westchester. Ruby Greta ever hear of the the Hutch? Cross County? Bronx River, Central Avenue? Boston Post Road? Route 22? Saw Mill Parkway? Sprain Brook Parkway? I could go on all day......they are basically parking lots...

Not to mention getting around the village of Bronxville, Scarsdale, Larchmont, New Rochelle, Hartsdale, etc. etc. etc. And Yes Mamaroneck too....that place is a disaster most of the time near the train station.

We don't need to map out backroad shortcuts to get around up here...proves my point! Thank you!

"Sometimes I see backups on route 35 so traffic in northern Westchester is just as bad" Really Rubygreta??? lol

One place the traffic is really nasty up here is Ridgefield CT, I will say that much! But thats CT.

Exactly. I guess the people who don't live here know better?

Have you ever been to Bronxville? It can take 10 minutes to get throught the village. I surmise you forgot about Mount Kisco because you know nothing about it!

You tend to opine on subjects about which your are ignorant and attack people who disagree as know nothings.

You sound like a really nice guy, John. Let's go out for lunch sometime.

Never mind, I can't make it because the mid-day traffic down here in "undesirable" lower Westchester is unbearable. It would take me two hours to get to Cross River (or wherever you live).
