Hi there...any suggestions for the following
situation? My wife works in Midtown and
our daughter goes to preschool on the UWS.
We are moving to Dobbs Ferry next month
and we have to figure out the best way to get
our daughter to school. My wife was figuring on
driving to the UWS, finding street parking near
the school, dropping our daughter off at
school, taking the subway to work, taking the
subway from work back to the preschool
at the end of the day, picking up our
daughter, and then driving home. We have
serious convents about the outbound
traffic leaving NYC during the evening rush.
The only alternative that we found was to
take the bus crosstown to the Metro North
Harlem stop, take Metro North, and then
drive home from the station. The train times
and my daughters preschool time leaves
this journey at about two hours door to door
for my wife (from the time she leaves work in
Midtown).
We would like to have our daughter finish at
her preschool as we have paid the tuition.
We found a great house at a great price and
knew that we would have to figure things out
with the commute and here we are.
I drive several days a week to the UWS from Eastchester. I leave work around 4:30 and rarely have a problem. Usually 40 min door to door. It's the morning commute that is a crap shoot. Anywhere from 40 min to 1hr.
