My husband and I have been looking to buy a home possibly in Katonah. We are relatively observant, keep kosher, attend a conservative synagogue etc. We would like to move to a community with a jewish population where our children wouldn't feel out of place. Is there a portion of Katonah and/or particular elementary schools that you think we should be focusing on?

Also, is there a conservative temple in a surrounding area that would attract Katonah families?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Move to Scarsdale. A ton of jews there and you won't feel out of place.

The only conservative temple in the Katonah vicinity that I know of is the Yorktown Jewish Center (which despite its name is a synagogue). There's also a reform synagogue in Yorktown Heights.

Yorktown Jewish Center

You should mix with other faiths and cultures.

I often see posts like this where people are trying to determine the presence of a specific group. In your case go to the local synagogue and speak with them, they would be in the best position to say how significant a presence the Jewish community is in Katonah. Good luck as you move forward....

We haven't been in Katonah that long but we are very involved in the community and the village does not seem to have much of a presence at all.
That being said, you wouldn't feel out of place because the local people are making you feel uncomfortable, it would only be because you and your family make yourselves feel out of place. Not sure if that makes sense. (Just curious, do your kids say they feel out of place without being in the majority or is it you that feels out of place and are passing it along to your kids? I'm not trying to be rude, I just wonder if they actually care about that.)

It's a very welcoming town but if you will only feel welcome with a large volume of people of the same faith, I don't believe Katonah is the place for you (in our limited experience). Perhaps Yorktown would be a better fit where dma mentioned, Scarsdale or another one of the usual towns on the list.
I hope I put enough disclaimers in there for everyone, it's just one person's opinion.

I'd like to live in a town that's primarily Lutheran. Any suggestions?

Bronxville is the only one that comes to mind.

But then you'd still have to mix with all those Presbyterians. The horror. The horror.
