Hi,

We are looking to move to Larchmont and have a few questions regarding school/child care options in Larchmont. My children are 3yo and 1.5yo.

1) there are three elementary schools zoned for Larchmont. Do people prefer one to another when considering buying?

2) childcare: what are the childcare options? Are there any full day daycare centers in or near Larchmont? Or do people mostly use nanny and pt nursery school?

3) For people who use nannies, do nannies drive the children around to classes, for drop off/pick up? If so, do nannies use their own car or the parents' car? This may sound silly but how do they make sure the nanny travels safely with children?

Thanks.

We send our 1.5 yo to the Liberty Montessori school in New Rochelle. While it's not in Larchmont, it is very close (less than a mile from the Larchmont/NR border). We're very happy there. The teachers are very good and very caring.

Second the question about nannies driving. Is it vital that nannies drive in Larchmont/Mamaroneck, for toddler/infants not in preschool? We will be living in Shore Acres/Mamaroneck.

Murray and Chatsworth seem pretty similar - they are the "wealthy" districts.

Central has some big wealth from the Orienta section of Mamaroneck. But because it draws from lots of apartment buildings and modest neighborhoods, it is more "middle class."

Given how hot the real estate market is, be happy if you can find a house in any of the districts. They are all fine. And when the kids come together in the Hommocks Middle School, there is no loyalty to an elementary school.

I am speaking from experience. Attended Central School (and proudly, the last kindergarten class to attend school in what is now Town Hall across from the football field), graduated MHS in 1977, still have four good high school friends, one from Central and three from Chatsworth.
