I've been looking at real estate listings and have noticed that taxes in Chappaqua seem to be in the $18k range for +2000 sq ft homes on +1/3 acre. $18k is nothing to sneeze at, but it does seem relatively low when compared to other towns in central/southern Westchester. In fact, I think Chappaqua ranks pretty well in my unscientifc list for lowest taxes after Yonkers, White Plains, Hartsdale/Elmsford, Valhalla, and Hawthorne/Thornwood. Does this seem right to anyone else?
At the price you quoted the tax obligation appears to be $24.80 per $1000 of assed value, that is assuming you are taxed on 100% of the homes value. Does this include school tax? If it does then this is about the average rate for most communities.
Very interesting. Never thought to look at the rate per $1000 of assessed value.
