Hi,
Can you recommend towns in Westchester with the following criteria:
Good high schools, low crime, suburban not urban not rural, 75 minute commute (including drive to train station to GCC), 60 minutes to Norwalk CT, house price of 450k-550k move in condition 3br 1.5 bath, 1,900+ sq ft. Thank you for your advice.

Have you considered living in CT? Lowers your property, sales, and income taxes (for your CT income).

Very tough to find a house in southern westchester in that price range with good schools and requested proximity to NYC. Same with CT, unless you want a much longer commute to NYC.

Have you looked into Rockland County or Long Island? They are much more suburban than Westchester. Westchester seems to be either urban or rural with not much in between, although Mt. Kisco is a good bet for all your criteria.

Can you clarify a little? One person's urban is another's suburban. My read would be that most locals would consider southern Westchester (south of I-287 as a rough marker) "suburban" apart from downtown and southern Yonkers, downtown White Plains, downtown New Rochelle, much of Port Chester and much of Mt Vernon.

I saw you were asking about White Plains in another thread. Just wanted to say that white plains will probably not meet your 1900+ sqft requirement. Also, I wouldn't recommend White Plains if you are willing to do the larger commute.
The top reasons to chose white plains would be: 1. quick commute to GC 2. low taxes and 3. Diversity. It doesn't sound like those are your top concerns.
Although, many people forget to consider the taxes in Westchester. A 500k house with a 10k taxes is much different than a 500k house with 20k taxes. Let us know what taxes you are looking to pay.
