I am moving to Ardsley pretty soon and i have all sorts of questions....from where can I find a good painter or housekeeper, to how can I get to know people in the area... I am fortunate that here in Houston i am part of two online mothers groups and I they have helped us adapt, make friends, get referrals for services in the area, and local know how.

I'm looking for a group like this that is active (It seems many are not) and where people will participate and share resources, ideas and have get togethers every once in a while. We are both working parents so any group that is not exclusive to SAHMs and where folks are easy going will be perfect for us.

I see there are several new comers clubs for the Larchmont/Rye corridor, but I can't find something that will be closer to our area. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks much!

You can try searching on Meetup, here are some for example:

Rivertown Babies & Tots (Dobbs Ferry, NY) - Meetup
Young Moms near the Scarsdale Area (Scarsdale, NY) - Meetup
New Moms, New to Westchester (Scarsdale, NY) - Meetup

Ardsley is small enough that you will get to meet other parents fairly quickly, especially if your kids are involved in recreational sports or school activities, you'll get to know other parents quickly. A lot of mothers are SAHMs, which is the case with most of Westchester, but you'll come across dual working parents as well. The nice thing about the SAHMs is they are usually more than willing, once they get to know you, to help pick up or drop off your kids in emergencies or other situations when you can't be there in time, which can be a big relief if you're a working parent.
