where to buy ice skates for a 5 year old in lower westchester? (White Plains: buying)

Peck's in White Plains. When buying skates you have to go somewhere where the staff knows their stuff, which is really the case here. Very reasonable prices. However, tiny store be prepared to wait.

Used skates can be tough, as you want someone who barely used them. Our kids went to Westchester Skating Academy, which has a great shop that seels skates of several different price points and services them to sharpen the blades. Lots of kids get their first pair at a store like Modells, but we always shopped at WSA. Here is the link to the place. they are in Elmsford.

Ended up buying skates, helmet and elbow pads at Pecks. They were great -- spent a lot of time fitting our child and making sure that she got what was needed.
