I'd like to send my LO to Larchmont Temple next year for the 2s program, but the schedule isn't very useful from a childcare perspective. I'm wondering if it's better to instead send her to daycare for one year and wait until age 3 to start nursery. I really need coverage 2-3 full days a week, either in Larchmont or really close by (like right over the New Rochelle border). Ideally I'd like her to be with some kids she'll eventually go to elementary school with. I don't want to send her to a full-day nursery (like Montessouri) if most of the class will be continuing to 3s/4s program and we'll be switching to Larchmont Temple. Any suggestions??

Gotta be honest, I think worrying about having your 2 year old be in a place where she'll be with kids through to elementary school is a little silly. If you switch her at age 3 she'll be just fine...

From a childcare perspective, what you're going to find is that you either get "nursery school" which is 2-3 hours per day, morning or afternoon, or you get daycare, which is all day everyday. You aren't going to find something that is full days that isn't daycare.

All that said, I know several families that are very happy with the Liberty Montessori at the corner of Post Rd/Orienta Ave.

Agreed on both counts. I would even say switching right before kindergarten isn't a big deal either. You will meet other families in the neighborhood through other means so your child will have a few familiar faces on the first day of school regardless of where she goes to pre-school.

Not many true full day options in the immediate Larchmont/Mamaroneck area. Little Feet First is a large home based daycare in Mamaroneck. Not sure if Discovering Me in Larchmont takes 2 year olds - they might. In New Rochelle there's a Bright Horizons on Pinebrook Boulevard - they are at Temple Israel of New Rochelle.

I know parents with kids in all three places, good reviews all around.

Also a Liberty Montessori in Larchmont Woods in New Rochelle - very close to Larchmont depending on what part of Larchmont you live in. We send our daughter there and love it.
