European Community
Hi,
Me, my husband, and 3 year and 6 month old will be relocating to Westchester next June and would like to know which town has the largest european community, as well as international schools. Not looking for best school district area but diversity and proximity to NYC, and having the budget where would you suggest?.
Thanxs

There's no single community where one would say there are many EU citizens. Most of the nicer towns have a few...but your question doesn't really have an answer. It's not like Scarsdale is filled with French citizens, while the Dutch are in Rye....What is your housing budget?
There's Lyceum Kennedy in Ardsley if you're interested in a French school...

My question is if there are towns where most international-european citizens choose to live and why. I would like to take my daughter to an international school so no interest in school district. Budget is around 1.5MM, taxes are also an issue as would not attend public schools, so does not make sense to pay for those.
Thanx

Taxes are high EVERYWHERE in Westchester. With your budget you can live anywhere you like. Again, any of the nice towns may (or may not) have EU citizens. Check on Trulia - Real Estate, Homes For Sale, Sold Properties, Real Estate Maps for houses in Scarsdale, Rye, Bedford and take a look at the taxes. If your house is nice (and in that price range it will be) your taxes will be high. Sorry, but it's a fact of life.

I believe that Larchmont has a high population of French people and it is beautiful area with a nice town center. You will be sure to find something there with your budget.

We are moving from Europe to Westchester in May. We have got spots for our two boys (ages 4 and 1) in the International Montessori School (from 18 months up to Second grade) in Mamaroneck and we will be looking at houses in Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye. These three towns are very nice and have an international mix. The American French school is in Larchmont. We are planning to send the oldest boy to public school so he will get friends in the neighborhood and the public schools in these towns are really good.

Thanks everyone for your advices. I believe we will focuse our search in Rye, Larchmont and New Rochelle, as well as Connecticut, where my husband will be working. What are the economic benefits, in terms of taxes, of living in Connecticut vs. New York?

Real estate taxes are MUCH lower in Connecticut, compared to Westchester County.
